Plastic growing pots with a screened, open-walled structure rather than a solid side.
The open pattern lets water drain away freely and lets air reach the root zone from the sides of the pot, which is why pots of this type are used in hydroponic and semi-hydro set-ups where roots run out into a media bed, flood tray or nutrient stream. They are rigid enough for repeated handling and can be rinsed and reused between crops.
Suits hydroponic systems and any set-up where free drainage and root access matter more than holding a large body of media.
